“Peace on Earth”, is a phrase we constantly hear at Christmas time, but we struggle to find peace in the day to day chaos of our lives and in the wider world where wars abound.

At Christmas time, somehow we make a greater effort to do things that we did not have the time nor the inclination to do throughout the year. We give gifts, toys to children in need and food hampers to those in need. Families unite, especially with those members we don’t see year round and we share meals with family, friends and associates. We simply share more of ourselves with others in a spirit of love, joy and festivity.
What is it about Christmas that brings out the kinder, more loving side of us? Is it that we remember the birth of Jesus who came to reconcile us to God and bring peace to mankind? Jesus taught us to love each other as we love ourselves. It is through love that we find peace. All of the generosity, sharing and love shown for our fellowman at Christmas, gives us hope that we can make this world a better place if we live this way year round.
This Christmas, may we find peace within God and our Blessed Mother Mary, the Queen of Peace who guides us to love and understanding within ourselves and in our relationships. It is in this way we can indeed truly find Peace on Earth.
